Chaten has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta where he majored in Accounting and minored in Business Economics and Law with a focus in real estate.

He has previously worked in the hospitality industry and as of recent has been working with a local homebuilder as a project coordinator in charge of day to day operations such as overseeing design, construction, and supervising trades.

Chaten is a die hard Oilers fan and enjoys playing competitive ball hockey.
